Architectural Plans: 173 Commonwealth – Remodeling (1917)

In November of 1917, architects Parker, Thomas, and Rice prepared plans for remodeling 173 Commonwealth to be the future home of their partner, J. Harleston Parker. The remodeling included replacing the front façade and portions of the rear façade, and significantly altering the interior.

Plans for the remodeling are included in the City of Boston Blueprints Collection in the Boston City Archives (reference BIN M-4).  They include seven sheets of blueprints, including one sheet with the front and rear elevations, and six sheets with floor plans for the basement, first, second, third, fourth, and fifth floors. Below, courtesy of the Boston City Archives, are scans of the blueprints.  They are in poor condition, faded and torn in several cases. These images have been enhanced to improve readability.
