Architects

A number of architects worked in the Back Bay, contributing their designs to the impressive and varied collection of buildings that comprise the neighborhood.  In many cases, the identity of a building’s architect has not, as yet, been identified.  Fortunately, however, the designers are known in many other cases.

The list below includes the architects and architectural firms who have been identified in connection with Back Bay residential buildings through the mid-twentieth century, and links to individual pages which list the Back Bay work with which they are identified.  Often, an architect would be associated with several different firms during his career.  Accordingly, both individual architects and architectural firms are listed. with the houses they designed listed under both headings.
