George Nelson Jacobs

George Nelson Jacobs was born on March 22, 1891, in Boston, the son of Isaac Jacobs and his wife, Miriam (Margaret) Moore.

He married first on March 2, 1923, in Nashua, New Hampshire, to Florence (MacDonald) Jeffrey (b. 17Aug1895 in Boston; d. 1Mar1949 in Brookline), daughter of John MacDonald and his wife, May (LNU), and former wife of (FNU) Jeffrey.

He married second to Mary Gertrude (LNU).

George Jacobs died on June 11, 1960, in Boston.

Career

George Jacobs graduated from Harvard in 1917.  By 1920, he had begun practice as an architect in Boston.  He continued as a sole practitioner in the 1930s, but by 1936 he was working with his brother, William Nelson Jacobs. By the early 1940s they had formed the firm of G. N. and W. N. Jacobs Associates, architects and engineers.  By 1942, the firm was no longer listed in the City Directories and William Jacobs was a construction engineer with the Federal Pubic Housing Authority.
