Saul E. Moffie

Personal Data

Saul Elias Moffie was born on August 11, 1897, in Boston, the son of Joseph Moffie and his wife, Mildred Meklenburg (daughter of Abraham Meklenburg).  His birth record shows his name as Saul Abraham Maffie, but is marked “corrected” on May 11, 1943.

He married first in 1923 to Ruth Doris Epstein (b. 13Dec1902 in Boston; d. 14Dec1928 in Brookline), daughter of Matthew Epstein and his wife, Lea Jacobs.

He married second in 1934 to Rose Christie (b. 10Oct1907 in Marlborough; d. 2Sep1998 in Cambridge), daughter of Himan Christie and his wife, Berta Presmer.

Saul Moffie died on February 14, 1993, in Cambridge.

Career

Saul Moffie graduated from Tufts University School of Engineering in 1921.  He opened his offices in 1924, and remained listed as an architect in the 1980s.

He specialized in commercial and public buildings and apartment houses.
